I’ll re-iterate – it takes times to make real, lasting changes. The ones you won’t rebound from. I firmly believe that it takes a good 6 months to move through the stages we all face when changing our lives: the initial seemingly easy success, the “life happens” plateau, and the long-term “wow, was that really me?” change. My goal in coaching is for you to be successful and to accomplish the goals you will set for yourself. In my experience that takes collaboration and teamwork. Through our sessions together we will discover the barriers that we naturally put in our path and uncover the inner talk track that has derailed you in the past. Contrary to what you may be thinking, I will not dictate a diet for you. Instead we will explore a variety of food to discover which foods fuel you the best. It's important to understand why some foods make you feel better than others and to strategically use that feedback to create an eating plan that works and is specific to you.
In truth my mission is very simple: I want to inspire and empower you to believe in YOU; your value, your worth and your success. When you change what you think about yourself, you will change your life.
One of the most intriguing concepts I discovered during my time at IIN is the idea of Primary and Secondary Foods. Let’s face it – when making the decision to get healthy we all naturally look up “diet”. There are many out there to choose from and all typically dictate what types of food to eat and what to stay away from. And from that you’d naturally conclude that Primary Food must be, well… Food.
Primary Food is, in fact, not what you put in your mouth but all of the other factors present in our lives: relationships, career, physical activity, and spiritual practices. When these primary foods are balanced, what you actually eat becomes secondary.
The concept of Bio-Individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, we will explore what foods make you feel great and which ones leave you feeling tired, sick and down. With that specific feedback we’ll find a meal plan that best suits you and your lifestyle.
Many diet and nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat. These lists can be fairly restrictive and while doable for a short time, often aren’t realistic in the long term. My approach is different – I will encourage you to add in foods and drinks that are right for your body thus leaving less room and desire for those foods that don't fuel you properly. Simply put, you will gradually crowd out the unhealthy food in your diet.
